Proper Attire For Recovery After Surgery
Anyone who’s ever had surgery before knows how important post-surgical garments are when it comes to reducing surgical pain. Take a very painful procedure like a total knee replacement as a good example. The area where the cuts and staples exist can very easily be irritated and infected. It’s vital to have a good pair of loose, comfortable shorts that feel light on the skin.
Taking clothes off after a total knee replacement, or other painful surgeries, can be a huge ordeal. Making the wrong garment decisions will quickly translate into a lot more pain than anyone needs to go through. Hospitals frequently give instructions as to what type of garments are appropriate for specific surgical procedures. For example, long sleeve shirts might be okay if you’re having a total knee replacement, but if you’re having elbow surgery they can cause a great deal of pain to put on. What type of garment is right for you will be based on the type of surgery that you’re having.
Rehab t-shirts are comfortable and appropriate for all types of surgeries, including knee or leg surgeries. Remember that comfort is king. You’ll want clothes that are very easy to put on and take off. This often means loose fitting garments that aren’t going to win any fashion awards but that will allow you to recover from surgery in a comfortable shirt.
Shorts and pants follow the same rule. If you’re having surgery on your legs, you’ll want to have loose fitting shorts that don’t directly irritate the incision and are very easy to put on and take off. They should be made of comfortable materials, as well. Some people prefer cotton while others find they’re more comfortable polyester blends. One key thing to remember is that slip on clothes are going to make the best clothes in rehab. You don’t want any clothing frills that are going to catch on your incision and cause pain.
Surgery doesn’t have to be completely devoid of fashion, either. You can get colorful shirts and shorts that bring out your inner kid and spirit. Logos of sports teams, beloved tv show characters, and other decorative images can breathe a little fashion into an otherwise unpleasant surgery. As long as the clothes are comfortable, though, it’s not necessary to focus on the fashion aspect of dressing for a surgical recovery.

Not All About Losing Weight
Weight loss surgery is beneficial if you have had difficulties shedding pounds after trying other options. You’ll also discover that there are other health benefits from bariatric surgery Las Vegas doctors perform that can make you feel like a new person. Since your stomach is smaller, you won’t eat as much. You’ll usually find that you’re eating smaller bites than before and thinking more about the types of food that you eat so that you get the essential vitamins and nutrients that you need instead of eating junk food all the time. Try to drink water or a healthy beverage about 30 minutes before eating. This will also help you feel full faster but allow for a way to stay hydrated at the same time as your beverage will begin to leave the stomach before eating.
If you’re a diabetic, then you’ll likely see changes in how much insulin you use or the consistency of your blood sugar levels. Sometimes, weight loss surgery has such a significant impact that it can put your diabetes into remission because your body isn’t getting the overwhelming amount of sugar that it did before. Your cardiovascular health will begin to improve. After weight loss surgery, it’s not ideal to eat foods that have a high fat content, so you’re not going to have the fat and other unhealthy substances in the body to raise your cholesterol levels. The decrease in these levels can decrease your risk of heart disease as well.
Sometimes, being overweight can lead to depression. You see yourself as someone who doesn’t fit in with everyone else. Other people might make comments about your weight that are disturbing. When you begin to lose weight and see changes in how your clothes fit and how you look in a mirror, then you’ll begin to feel better about yourself, which can help with your depression. When you’re overweight, you might suffer from sleep apnea because of the extra weight on the heart, lungs and other organs. Weight loss surgery can vastly improve your breathing during the day and at night, eliminating most of the symptoms of sleep apnea that you experience.
